Jean Luis Cabrera, M.D.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Jean Luis Cabrera, M.D., imparted his medical career at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where he discovered medicine was his true passion.
While in the Caribbean, after his medical school studies, Dr. Cabrera helped care for his elderly grandparents. It was this event that led him to want to continue caring for the most vulnerable. Soon after, he continued his studies as a medical resident in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Harlingen, Texas, where he learned from some of the country’s best Geriatricians. During this residency, Dr. Cabrera earned multiple awards, including the Angel Wings recognition for providing exceptional, compassionate care.
He continued his studies in a subspecialty in Geriatrics Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. As a fellow, he worked in world-renowned hospitals in the Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest life sciences destination, including the Houston Methodist Hospital and St. Luke’s Medical Center, among others.
After his brief stint as a Geriatrics Fellow in Houston, Texas, Dr. Cabrera moved back to the Rio Grande Valley to continue serving his community in Weslaco, Texas.
He is an American Board Certified Internal Medicine physician and an American Board Certified Geriatrics Medicine doctor. He has contributed to multiple medical publications, conferences, and presentations in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
In his spare time, Dr. Cabrera enjoys cycling, swimming, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
